Who is this guy???

I am a 46 year old, single father of two wonderful boys.

I don’t have all the answers, but the questions get me hot.

I’m not right all the time…but I’m always close.

I know enough to know when I don’t know something.

I will be posting new content here every week on Tuesday morning. If something pops up that I feel needs to be said off that schedule….well…heh, it’s my blog so I can do that, too. 😉

I will listen to anything you have to say, about any topic. If I don’t like the topic, or what you have to say, you’ll know it. But I’ll listen anyway, because that’s how I do…and that’s what I expect of you as well.

I want this site to be like one of those little cups of pennies on the counter at the convenience store, only with knowledge and common sense instead of pennies. If you have some, leave it. If you need some, take it.

I don’t care if you fight and scream and yell in here. Just don’t waste anyones time and have a reason for the things you say. If you call someone a shithead, be completely prepared to defend that position intelligently and thoroughly.

If you think I’m wrong, tell me I’m wrong. Then tell me why I’m wrong. Then tell me what you think is right.

To the best of my ability, and for as long as I can, I will respond to anyone that comes to this site personally.

If you have anything that you’d like to say to me offsite, you can email me at planet.common.sense@gmail.com

PLEASE….if you like this site, tell your friends to come in and play as well. Let’s blow this thing up!

Enjoy your time here on Planet Common Sense, and thank you for coming in.

Glen

Perhaps you should have said, ” I’m half smart”, meaning I’m smart enough to know I’m not smart ! Only a minority can make this statement !
I’m half smart however I don’t know what to do, who to support, who to send money to, in regards to solving our country’s budget and money problems. Will the real tea party please stand up?

    • Ok, Wally. Feeling better about yourself now?

There are about 10,000 words puiblished on this site so far. No where on here will you find the words ‘tea’ and ‘party’ next to each other.
People that are tea party affiliated are, as a rule, pretty vocal about it.
So I’m not quite sure where you got that from…. but you’re actually smarter now than you were before by virtue of the fact that I just explained that to you

      You’re welcome. 🙂

Thanks for stopping by. Come again any time.

      • Don’t you love freaking know it all trolls (Wally)? 😦

I blogged for 7 years at http://Chicagoray.blogspot.com before I gave it up Last November due to years of inane but tiresome spam and even death threats towards the end from those ‘peaceful leftists’ out there.

So after collecting enough ip’s the FBI moved on them who they incidentally as it turned out already had them in their sites and arrested them incidentally In Chicago for all kinds of net terror threats against me and other bloggers as well.

Freaking anti war activist WOMEN! What ladies our society is producing today. Not.

        http://antiwarcommittee.org/2011/01/06/fbi-raids-the-peace-movement-and-american-history/ Nice group huh?

These lefties in the country are out of control and really need a civil war – like azz whooping but until THEY pull the trigger first so we can whomp em it’s a rough business that doesn’t pay too well..If it did I’d a stuck it out but the headaches were too many. It’s easier whooping em on the public forums for a change 😉 Good luck man.

Hi Ray F Nicholas, so I read your blog. Not so much that I didn’t agree with what you said, as with the way you said it.

Also read the anti-war committee page. To show you I’m neutral I’ll repeat the famous saying: “There are lies, damn lies, and political manifestos.”

That’s what Glen’s blog is here for. We all get bored talking to people who agree perfectly with what we say and keep nodding “Yes, yes.” Maybe you’ll change our minds a little and we’ll change yours. The widest possible range of opinions, exchanged in a spirit of respect!

          Welcome aboard.

ha tight site you have. Cheers!

  4. Joe says:

Ahhh, common sense. The ability to recognize bullspit. The ability to be cynical AND hopeful. Patriotic without agenda. Did I mention common sense? I like what I’ve read here today. It strikes me as truthful, without pretense, and meaningful. Please continue!

    • Joe, that’s about the highest praise you could possibly give me. You’ve pretty much listed everything I set out to be with this site. Thank you for that, sir.
Picked a good day to get onboard as I’ll typically post the weeks new content on Monday night, so have a look back later on after about 9:30 or so if you like.
I’m glad you found us and enjoyed what you read. I’ll do my best to keep putting quality stuff out there for you and everyone else that’s been here.
I hope we’ll see a lot more of you on the site. Thanks again.

Um, I got a bit cagey the first time I read “Fox” but no need. Those right-wing pages are usually the best unpaid advertisement that Barack Obama could ever have with his name occurring hundreds of times. In half an hour’s reading I think I encountered Obama only in the context of the Netanyahu visit.

Not a word about birth certificates either. Good man.

I also would hate to see Sarah Palin with her finger on the nuclear, sorry nucular button.

You’re mostly rational skeptic, usually very witty, seldom missing the point. But don’t worry about that. Even I get it wrong sometimes. (Ahem.)

    Write on!

  6. Greg Pagel says:

Just started reading your blog….excellent read ! Exactly my thoughts except you have the ability to put on paper, so to speak! Looking forward to more. Great job Glen.

    • Glad you’re here, Greg, and thanks for your kind words.
New content is posted every Tuesday. Hope you enjoy the site and that we’ll see a lot more of you.
      Cheers, Glen.

Reading the Economics 101 posting and must say I agree with your feeling on illegal immigration. Unfortunately, Washington doesn’t and they play the sympathy card of their just here to give their family a better life, families shouldn’t be separated and the E-verify system doesn’t work. Meanwhile, a legal citizen who breaks the law to give their family a better life is prosecuted and jailed. I predict that when they sell making all those who knowingly violated our laws and disrespected our country a legal citizen they will say there is the benefit of having more people pay into Social Security to cover the baby boomers who are retiring. They will ignore the fact that they will be able to bring their family members here and the new stress on the system will be greater than the money put in by illegals becoming legal. Will be back to read some more later, not a facebook, twitter, etc., person just plain old email.

  8. TD says:

    Glen,

I am much like you, grew up in the midwest with a “party line” voting father and mother. Had an incredible Political Science teacher in college and he really opened my eyes to how important it was to vote, even more so to vote your conscience, not just the little R and D next to the name. I am in my mid 40’s and can not tell you how sick I am with both sides of the political system. I do not believe our founding fathers intended for serving in a public office to be a career. Yet, so many of our leaders will do or say anything to stay in power. Our House and Senate have become a political obstacle course where everyone appears to be running in waist high mud. That, to me is the most frustarting part is nothing gets done.

I am enjoying reading your blog and will check back often…Thanks for your time and effort. TD

    • Very cool stuff, TD.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I’m glad you found us.
New content is published every Tuesday, but it’s almost always up on Monday night if you want an early look. If you do twitter, you can follow and get notified of new posts at plnetcommonsnse.
Mostly, thanks for participating on the boards. This part is what really makes this site work. I hope we’ll see a lot of you here.
      Thanks again.

    Glen,

Would love to hear what your opinions are on this whole Solyndra mess.

    Thanks so much

    TD

    • That’s definitely on the front burner going into this week. There’s some major league scumbaggery going on there and these mooks pleading the 5th in front of congress is bullshit. That wasnt the governments half billion they blew. that was MY money and YOURS, and I want answers.
Look in the ‘Shots’ section this week coming. Good call, TD.

Hey…..TD Bank isn’t owned by you, is it? I’m with them and they suck. lol

      Have a great weekend. 🙂

      Glen

  12. TD says:

Hey Glen, hope all is well with you and you are enjoying the fall. No, I dont own TD bank…I wish, but i am just a lowly sales manager of a telecommunications company.

I have an idea for your next “just shut up” column…check out Lawrence Odonnel’s interview with Herman Cain on MSNBC. I have never been at such a loss for words after watching an interview. I guess I am not totally surprised by how Mr Cain was treated, just shocked with the host’s arrogance and disrespect. I would be interested to see the reaction if someone from Fox (or any of the major networks other than NBC) would have treated then, Senator Obama the same way. I believe all networks, regardless of their political agenda need to give both sides their due…I enjoy hearing the arguments so i can make a decision on my own. Just an ordinary guy’s opinion.

    • Good to see you, Troy. All is well here and I hope you’re the same.

I haven’t seen that but I’ll have a look. Cain’s very much looking like my guy at this point. I want to look into him a little more and I’ll check this out as a part of that. Thanks for that, and thanks for stopping in again. G

  13. TRUTEABAGGER says:

Wow, your site is pretty cool ! My husband and I will enjoy it for sure ! Personally, I think Cain with the Brain will be nominated for 2012, I’d take anyone over Obama. Keep up the great work on this site, we’ll be back checking it out ! GOOD DAY TO YOU !

    • Awesome! Thanks for coming by and I’m glad you like the site. New content gets posted every Tuesday. If you have any questions, I’m always reachable. Thanks again. I’m so glad you’re here. Glen

    Hi Glen,

Came across your site while I was reading the comments for the “disturbing” mom/daughter lingerie ad and “liked” your comment. Now have planet common sense as a favorite on my computer and will check in with you weekly — nice to read something that makes sense for a change. Have several friends that will appreciate this site and plan on sharing…..

  16. Jule's Rant says:

Hi ya Glen, I ended up here from a link you posted in the comments of a Fox News story. I’m enjoying what I’m reading. Not agreeing completely with it all, but I think you’re an excellent writer and very engaging! Good luck! — J

    • A pleasure to have you here, Jule. I read all the comments you left and I think you & I are going to get along just fine.

Thank you so, so much for what you said about my writing. That’s like candy to me. lol
And thank you for not agreeing with everything. People that do that are scary and make me uncomfortable.

The greatest thing you can do for me, for you and for everyone here is when you don’t agree, step on up to the podium and say so. I want to know what you think and I want to know when you think I’m wrong.

Also, thank you for drawing me here to this part of the site. I actually havent been on this page in a bit and I need to edit a few thing, particularly the “New Stuff Every Tuesday” part. I’ve sorta ‘gone rogue’ in regards to when I post now, which is a lot more fun.

Thank you again for being here, Jule. If you have any questions, please feel free to hit me up at planet.common.sense@gmail.com

Looking forward to kicking things around with you.

      G
